The City of Avon Park, known as the ''The City of Charm'', is home for 20,000 residents that enjoy many employment and recreational opportunities in the community. It is a family town and has many activities such as schools, sports, churches, fishing, boating, swimming and shopping.
The County offers 27 clear, freshwater lakes with some of the best fishing anywhere. With local hospitality and the beauty of the lakes and rolling hills, it has spurred residential growth in the County. Both year-round and part-time residents enjoy the quiet countryside, and rely on the Town of Avon Park for daily essentials as well as cultural, recreational and educational pursuits. While the friendliness, comfort, and safety of the community is enjoyed, you don't have to go far for the amenities of larger metropolitan centers. Being centrally located within the state, Avon Park is a comfortable drive away from either coast and most population centers of the state. You can take in the major attractions in Orlando, just 78 miles to the north or experience big city life in Miami, which is 178 miles to the south east. Famous for years as the site of one of America's first 'Gran Prix' raceways, Sebring has enjoyed growing recognition and prosperity in recent years, as the population of the city and area has grown. Located in the heart of South Central Florida's Highlands County, Sebring's position as principal town and county seat have made it a retail center for Highlands County and neighboring rural counties. Principal industries of the region include agriculture, principally citrus, dairy, and beef cattle, as well as tourism. The city continues to grow with the county population now over 100,000 residents.  Most business trade is conducted in Sebring. More than 15 square kilometers of lakes have made lakefront living a popular option, as large new housing developments have augmented the original stately southern-style homes. Sebring and Highlands County occupy the southern end of the Lake Wales Ridge, a 100-mile-long range of sandhills, dotted with fresh-water lakes. High ground in the area remained as island during ancient times, when much of Florida was submerged, leading to the development of dozens of rare species of plants and animals found no where else on earth. This southern portion of Central Florida, also known as ''The Ridge,'' is one of the most scenic areas of the Sunshine State. Lake Placid is set amidst the industries of agriculture. The heart of the southern central citrus region, Lake Placid also produces over 90% of the world's caladiums.
Lake Placid's traditional downtown area offers residents and visitors a peek at the past, in the form of about two dozen murals, depicting the heritage of the town.
While the friendliness, comfort, and safety of the community is enjoyed, you don't have to go far for the amenities of larger metropolitan centers. Being the most southern town in Highlands County, Lake Placid is a comfortable drive away from either coast and most population centers of the state.
You can take in the major attractions in Orlando, just 100 miles from Lake Placid or experience big city life in Miami, which is 153 miles to the south east.

Sun'n Lake Estates of Sebring has 2 18-Hole Golf Courses and a new 3.6 Million Dollar Club House. There are businesses and restaurants in the area. There is a hospital and medical offices througout. A public school is located within.  Sun'n Lake Estates of Sebring is truly one of the finest subdivisions in all of Highlands County and is just 10 minutes to downtown Sebring.  This is Deed Restricted community with a very active Homeowner's Association to maintain the area. Many new homes have recently been built and new construction will continue in this development. The future is very exciting here.

The Sebring Country Estates subdivison is 10 minutes from downtown Sebring.  Big and beautiful Lake Jackson is down the street. There are public boat ramps for fishing and boating. Several 18 holes golf courses are just minutes away. Many new homes have been built here with more new families to arrive.  This is a great spot to be.

The Sebring Hills South subdivision is 10 minutes west of downtown Sebring. Big and beautiful Lake Jackson is 5 minutes away.  Lake Jackson offers fishing and boating. Several boat ramps are available. Many new homes have been built recently but yet it's not yet so congested like the big cities.

The Orange Blossom Estates Subdivsion is 10 minutes southwest of downtown Sebring.  There are 1 acre and 1/4 acre parcels throughout the subdivision.  Many new homes have recently been built and are scattered throughout but yet there is a peaceful country environment.  Several large lakes exist here as is true of much of Highlands County.

The Placid Lakes Subdivision is just 7 minutes southwest of downtown Lake Placid.  It is located between two very large bodies of water (Lake Placid and Lake June). Both of these lakes provide public boat ramps for access.  Fishing and boating are a few minutes away. There is a beautiful 18 hole golf course and a newly designed clubhouse to enjoy as well. Many new homes have been built just over the last few years. This is truly a beautiful place to be.

The Leisure Lakes Subdivision is 10 minutes northwest of downtown Lake Placid. It borders with beautiful Lake June where there are public boat ramps for fishng and boating. Lake June is one of the largest Lakes in Highlands County. Many homes have been built throughout the subdivision. It is a beautiful and peaceful environment to live in.

The Highlands Park Estates subdivision is just 10 minutes east of downtown Lake Placid. The entire eastern border is Lake Istokpoga which is one of Florida's largest lakes at 27,000 acres in size.  There are public boat ramps for access into the lake.  Fishing and boating are great past times here. Shopping and Banking are right downtown in Lake Placid.

SUN'N LAKE ESTATES OF LAKE PLACID Aerial Map
The Sun'n Lake Estates of Lake Placid Subdivision is only five minutes south of downtown Lake Placid. It is borded by large Lake Grassy to the west. There is a community park and public boat ramp at the lake for the enjoyment of the residents here. There is also an 18-hole Golf Course borded on the southside. The Club House is also a restaurant. Many homes already exist here and more are to come.
